MISSION STATEMENT

Develop technology, planning and design guidance to enhance the Nation’s ability to mitigate the consequences of natural and human-caused hazards within the built environment."

In addition to the threats posed by recurring natural disasters, the United States faces the formidable challenge of protecting its population from a multitude of man-made threats such as major accidents and acts of terrorism. In response, the University of Florida, Center for Collective Protection was established in 2002 to conduct “all-hazard” research to enhance the Nation’s ability to collectively prepare, respond and recover from natural and human-caused hazards in the built environment. In 2007, the Center was endowed by a $150,000 gift by Edward Poefke, Sr.
